Due to recent events in my life, I have begun to value time to myself to have me time. Regardless of gender, age and lifestyle, I believe it is important to take some time to just enjoy being in your own company.
After having a fairly busy week, Friday night I was completely exhausted. I had intended to write or do something somewhat productive. However, I ended up having a quick bath, claiming the ‘pyjama state’ and sitting in bed eating chocolate and drinking lemonade.
Yes, it was extremely lazy of me yet I do not particularly regret because I woke up on Saturday feeling a lot better.
Especially in the busy nature of today’s society, it is extremely easy to forget that you can overwork yourself over a long period of time. It’s important to remember that you are in fact, a human, not a supersonic kind of creature. You may feel as if you are coping and everything is okay and fine, yet within days, weeks and months, you’re body will collapse.
Even if you sit in front of the TV for an evening, or devour an entire cake taking more time to yourself is not selfish or lazy. For example, my me time looks a little like this…
So, please take time for yourselves as things get better, even if it is an evening in bed eating chocolate. You deserve it my friend. Whether you enjoy going for walks in the great outdoors or prefer staying in and reading with a cup of tea. Just take time to chill out and recharge your batteries. Believe me, your body will thank you.
